Exploring Forestry in the 20th Century

The Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum is currently featuring a student-led exhibit Forestry in the 20th Century: Changing Technology and its Ecological Impact. Be sure to drop by the museum during regular business hours Wednesdays to Sunday from 11am to 4pm before the end of October to learn more…

Forestry has long been an integral part of both the economic and social climate in our region of BC. From booming, to beehive burners, to present technologies, there have been a wide variety of tools, methods, and people involved in the industry.

The exhibit highlights the technological changes in forestry and their environmental impacts since 1900. Models, pictures, readings, and interactive pieces show how this industry has embraced more effective technology while still facilitating the stewardship of available resources and meeting the needs of our communities.
