Valemount and Area Museum

The Valemount & Area Museum is situated at the confluence of the Cariboo Mountains, the Monashee Mountains and the Rocky Mountains. It is a short distance from Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The name Valemount comes from “Valley in the Mountains.”

Housed in the community’s historic railway station dating back to 1914, the museum tells the story of the people and events of the Robson Valley that shaped this scenic mountain village. From a replica trapper’s cabin, a full-sized Caboose to Margaret McKirdy’s sculptures of local pioneers, a wide variety of artefacts are on display. There is also a model railway that runs through the communities of Lucerne, Red Pass, Tete Jaune and Swift Creek – a highlight for visitors of any age.

Schedule
